Cavallerizza Reale is an impressive architectural ensemble of high quality and a sober and remarkable coherence.
We approached the site through its distinctive values, capacity and potential for use, by attentively observing the atmosphere of the place and giving a particular interest in its extraordinary history as well as its strong relationship with the city and light, which laid the architecture.
The architecture reveals large interior voids, open spaces that pass through, at all levels, which do not constrain the installation of public uses or other uses such as work spaces but on the contrary enhance them. It is about taking all this value of the existing into the project. There is no interest in destructuring, in heavily modifying, but in completing, adding, renovating with precision, accuracy and discernment, where necessary to bring life back, to create new uses and continue the history of this architecture. Without being erased nor imposing. Do what is sufficient, avoid doing too much, keep it light, delicate and poetic. The project appears naturally thanks to the attention paid to the place, to the understanding of its spaces and to the beauty of the evidence. It is this evidence that leads to the extraordinary.
The project aims to reintroduce use, life, pleasure, to reopen the place to the public, as widely as possible. To keep the potential of the empty and free spaces to install the programme.
The three large spaces on the ground floor: Mosca, the theatre, and the Pagliere, will be the strong places of the public use. The available volumes will be rather unconstrained and flexible, allowing to open up to the public for multi-purpose uses and will open onto the outside spaces creating an inside-outside continuity allowing for great diversity.
Mosca will be a multi-purpose space totally dedicated to exhibitions, events and conferences. The Pagliere will be a café-restaurant with a greenhouse garden and a terrace on the Passaggio Chiablese, a very active passageway. In the Theatre, an equestrian theatre will be installed, widely openable onto the square, to reintroduce on the site the historical presence of horses, which remain the soul of the place; they are already there when you start to close your eyes, to dream. The horses will be housed on the site, in the northern branch of the Pagliere and they will be able to walk around the Park crossing the site from their stable to the theater or to the park becoming familiar to the public. On the floors of Mosca and Pagliere, connected by a footbridge, the Compagnia will be settled in open spaces, full of light through the two facades, equipped with furniture or movable walls, allowing to partition according to the needs without durably separating.

La Cavallerizza Reale è un complesso architettonico di grande qualità e di una sobria e notevole coerenza.
Ci siamo avvicinati alla Cavallerizza attraverso i suoi valori, le sue capacità e le sue potenzialità di utilizzo, con uno sguardo attento all’atmosfera del luogo, un interesse specifico per la sua storia e il suo rapporto speciale con la città e con la luce, che hanno fondato l’architettura.
Essa rivela grandi vuoti interni, spazi liberi passanti, a tutti i livelli, che non vincolano l’inserimento di usi pubblici o altri usi quali gli spazi di lavoro ma al contrario li valorizzano. Occorre assumere nel progetto tutto questo valore dell’esistente. Non è interessante destrutturare, modificare pesantemente, ma piuttosto completare, aggiungere, rinnovare con precisione, accuratezza e discernimento, là dove è necessario per riportare la vita, creare nuovi usi e continuare la storia di questa architettura. Senza negarsi, né imporsi. Fare ciò che è sufficiente, evitare di fare troppo, rimanere leggeri, delicati e poetici. Il progetto appare con naturalezza, grazie all’attenzione posta al luogo, alla comprensione dei suoi spazi e alla bellezza dell’evidenza. È questa evidenza che porta allo straordinario.
Il progetto mira a reintrodurre l’uso, la vita, il piacere, a riaprire la Cavallerizza al pubblico, nel modo più ampio. A conservare il potenziale degli spazi vuoti e liberi per inserirvi il programma che non deve imporre lo spazio, sono gli spazi che decidono, in virtù delle loro qualità.
I tre grandi spazi al piano terra: il Mosca, il Maneggio Alfieriano, le Pagliere, saranno i punti forti dell’uso pubblico. I volumi disponibili saranno poco costretti, flessibili; permetteranno di accogliere il pubblico per usi polivalenti e di aprirsi sugli spazi esterni in una continuità interno-esterno che permette una grande diversità.
Il Mosca sarà uno spazio polivalente totalmente dedicato a mostre, eventi, conferenze. Le Pagliere saranno un caffè-ristorante con un giardino in serra e un dehors sul Passaggio Chiablese, luogo di passaggio attivo. Nel Maneggio Alfieriano sarà installato un teatro equestre, che si aprirà ampiamente sulla piazza, per riportare nel sito la storica presenza dei cavalli, che restano l’anima del luogo, che sono già lì quando iniziamo a chiudere gli occhi, a sognare. I cavalli saranno ospitati sul sito, nella manica nord delle Pagliere, potranno passeggiare nei Giardini Reali. Ai piani superiori del Mosca e delle Pagliere, collegati con due passerelle, la Compagnia si insedia negli spazi aperti, da facciata a facciata, equipaggiati con arredi e pareti mobili, che consentono di separare secondo le necessità, senza frazionare in modo permanente.

Cavallerizza Reale est un ensemble architectural impressionnant de grande qualité et d’une cohérence sobre et remarquable.
Nous avons abordé le site à travers ses valeurs distinctives, sa capacité et son potentiel d’utilisation, en observant attentivement l’atmosphère du lieu et en accordant un intérêt particulier à son histoire extraordinaire ainsi qu’à sa forte relation avec la ville et la lumière, qui ont déterminé l’architecture.
L’architecture révèle de grands vides intérieurs, des espaces ouverts traversants, à tous les niveaux, qui ne contraignent pas l’installation d’usages publics ou d’autres usages tels que des espaces de travail mais au contraire les valorisent. Il s’agit de prendre toute cette valeur de l’existant dans le projet. Il ne s’agit pas de déstructurer, de modifier lourdement, mais de compléter, d’ajouter, de rénover avec précision, justesse et discernement, là où c’est nécessaire pour redonner de la vie, créer de nouveaux usages et poursuivre l’histoire de cette architecture. Sans s’effacer ni s’imposer. Faire ce qui est suffisant, ne pas en faire trop, rester léger, délicat et poétique. Le projet apparaît naturellement grâce à l’attention portée au lieu, à la compréhension de ses espaces et à la beauté de l’évidence. C’est cette évidence qui conduit à l’extraordinaire.
Le projet vise à réintroduire l’usage, la vie, le plaisir, à rouvrir le lieu au public, le plus largement possible. Garder le potentiel des espaces vides et libres pour installer le programme.
Les trois grands espaces du rez-de-chaussée : Mosca, le théâtre et le Pagliere, seront les lieux forts de l’utilisation publique. Les volumes disponibles seront peu contraignants et flexibles, ce qui permettra de les ouvrir au public pour des utilisations polyvalentes et de les ouvrir sur les espaces extérieurs, créant ainsi une continuité intérieur-extérieur qui permettra une grande diversité.
Mosca sera un espace polyvalent entièrement dédié aux expositions, aux événements et aux conférences. Le Pagliere sera un café-restaurant avec un jardin sous serre et une terrasse sur le Passaggio Chiablese, un passage très actif. Dans le Théâtre, un théâtre équestre sera installé, largement ouvert sur la place, pour réintroduire sur le site la présence historique des chevaux, qui restent l’âme du lieu ; ils sont déjà là quand on commence à fermer les yeux, à rêver. Les chevaux seront logés sur le site, dans la branche nord de la Pagliere et ils pourront se promener dans le Parc en traversant le site, de leur écurie au théâtre ou au parc, devenant ainsi familiers au public. Aux étages de Mosca et Pagliere, reliés par une passerelle, la Compagnia sera installée dans des espaces ouverts, baignés de lumière par les deux façades, équipés de mobilier ou de cloisons mobiles, permettant de cloisonner selon les besoins sans séparer durablement.
